Fireworks...

It's that time of year again. I love all of the family and patriotic fun that comes with celebrating Independence Day, but I have little kids and sometimes the anticipation of the fireworks is a little overwhelming. Maybe they don't like loud noises (like one of mine), or they don't know what to expect, and they are fearful of those beautiful, LOUD lights in the sky coming Friday night. Here's an old (but I think really good) article about helping your kids if they face those fears. Here's to a happy (and fear & tear free) Fourth of July!!
This is how we do fireworks...

Escape the Heat at Tweetsie

Summer's in full swing, and it is H.O.T. in the Queen City this time of year. If you're looking to escape the heat for a day or a weekend, you should definitely check out Tweetsie Railroad. Nestled in the beautiful (and cooler) mountains, Tweetsie offers tons of fun for the whole family. And coming up this weekend, in addition to all of the standard fun, SpongeBob and Patrick make an appearance at the park.

Make it a great week!

Dine Out For Kids 2014

Looking to do something for local kids this week? Head out to breakfast, lunch or dinner on Tuesday at one of the participating Dine Out For Kids restaurants. The restaurants will donate a portion of their proceeds to Communities in Schools. CIS supports many local children, in many local schools, and this is an easy and fun way to support them. Hope you'll join me in "dining out for kids" on Tuesday! Make it a great week!

Consignment at the Dowd YMCA

The weather has warmed up, surely you've switched out the kids' closets to their summer wardrobe. Are you like me and you have the stacks of winter things just lying around? Are there some summer items that you know the kids won't wear no matter how hard you try to convince them? The solution? The premier of the Dowd YMCA's All Seasons Consignment Sale, Repurpose for a Purpose, is coming on June 21st. You can register to consign now, and make a little extra summer cash...you know you'll need some for the snack bar at the pool!

Speaking of consignment, I'm working on compiling the list of the Fall & Winter sales that will begin in August. If you know of one happening, please email me (queencitybuzz@gmail.com) with the details.

Blessings,
The Buzz
